• Uncovering the potential for making positive impact
Can a logistics service provider contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive economy? Use its business as a force for good? It’s a route this repair and logistics company Dynagroup is exploring. Been Management Consulting supported the company in uncovering its potential.
Holistic view on sustainability
Dynagroup wanted to know its current baseline in the world of sustainability. Our team advised the company use B Corp's assessment. It's one of the most ambitious and holistic assessments and certifications worldwide. We performed the B Impact Assessment, in close cooperation with the people from Dynagroup. The assessment ranks the company’s performance across the five pillars of B Corp: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
Repair
One of the cornerstones of the assessment is looking at a company's business model. It turns out, Dynagroup offers quite extensive repair services. The company collects and repairs mobile phones, wearables, drones, coffee machines, e-steps. Recently, it started to repair charging stations for electric vehicles and wants to expand into 'green repair solutions' such as solar panel convertors. Taking this assessment helps Dynagroup understand its repair services are key towards a more circular world. Helping prolong the life cycle of high value electrical products and supporting the transition to renewable energy too.

Recycle
Another positive outcome is Dynagroup’s role as a recycler. The company takes away old washing machines, TV’s and other electrical devices, as well as mattresses and furniture. Making sure they’re recycled properly. In fact, Dynagroup is one of the biggest recyclers out there. The company collects over 10 million kgs of e-waste per year as part of its logistic services.
Preventing food waste
There were more positives, such as the impact of Dynagroup's food delivery services. Its brand Leen Menken offers cooled and frozen food deliveries, such as restaurant deliveries and food boxes to consumers. The company was aware refrigerated warehouses are a source of CO2 emissions. However, the assessment showed Dynagroup this also keeps food waste low. The company also donates food, that would otherwise goes to waste, to charity. All in all, the impact of this service is more positive than expected. Naturally, we also addressed the elephant in the room: the C02 emissions of the company's vans and trucks.
The road to good
Using the outcomes of the B Impact Assessment, the team created a Sustainability Roadmap for the Future. It contains actions and adjustments that can be achieved in the short run, as well as long-term projects and investments. Having a good baseline assessment and roadmap helps Dynagroups focus its activities. Now it's up to the company's team to make that a reality. Off they go.
There are so many surprising ways to make positive impact with your business model. Great to work with their team on this.
