Jolijn Vlieger recently joined our team as a consultant after graduating from her master's in strategic innovation. Now, she is ready to make sustainable impact at Been Management Consulting. Who is Jolijn and why did she choose to join us? How does she plan to make impact? Let’s meet Jolijn.
What is your background?
I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, specializing in International Business and Management Studies. My fascination with different cultures and the dynamics of the global market has always played an important role in my life. After completing my bachelor’s, I decided to continue my studies and obtained my Master’s in Strategic Innovation Management from the University of Groningen, where I followed the Sustainability Track. I wanted to specialize further because I am greatly attracted to the strategic aspect. Additionally, I find innovations interesting, as it is essential to keep up with the latest trends and the environment one is in. Alongside my master’s, I also took the course "Business Value of AI," which helped me better understand the impact of technology on business models.
What made you decide to apply at Been Management Consulting?
My decision to apply at Been Management Consulting stemmed from their strong focus on the energy transition and food transition. I was particularly attracted to the impact projects that are entirely centered on sustainability. The combination of strategic issues and implementation, including change management, greatly appeals to me. For me, it is an opportunity to truly make a difference in the world and contribute to a more sustainable future for all of us. The idea that I can help realize positive changes, both at the strategic business level and for society as a whole, is what drives me.

Jolijn Vlieger, Consultant
How would you describe the working atmosphere?
At Been Management Consulting, I feel immediately welcome. The atmosphere is warm and collegial; everyone is helpful and eager to share their knowledge. It is inspiring to work in an environment where collaboration and growth are central. What stands out to me is the open communication and the willingness of colleagues to support each other. This ensures that I can develop quickly and that we work together towards solutions. The feeling that everyone here makes an important contribution makes working here even more motivating.
In what way would you like to make a positive impact in your job?
In my role, I hope to make a positive impact on social issues and contribute to sustainable solutions for our clients. I want to develop not only strategic plans but also ensure they are effectively implemented, with the involvement of all employees. I believe that real change occurs when everyone feels involved in the process. Therefore, I want to use my skills to inspire teams and guide them in achieving our shared goals. I also think it would be valuable to engage stakeholders and integrate their insights so that we can create a widely supported approach together.
What do you look forward to learning in the next couple of months?
In the coming months, I look forward to learning how to tackle complex issues from start to finish. I particularly want to understand how to engage everyone in the implementation of strategic plans. Additionally, I am curious about the different methods and tools used to facilitate change. I also find it interesting to learn how to apply my knowledge of sustainability across various sectors and contexts so that we can truly make an impact.
Can you tell us a little bit about your personal life?
Besides my professional ambitions, I am a creative person. I enjoy various creative activities, such as making jewelry, designing clothes, and pottery. I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen, where I like to experiment with new baking creations. Baking is a way for me to express my creativity while also relaxing. Furthermore, I love playing sports; I love playing hockey, swimming, and currently ice skating as well. I am someone who doesn’t like to sit still, and I always seek interaction with others, whether with family or friends. Whether we spend an active day outdoors or enjoy cooking together, I derive a lot of energy from social moments.
