This global law firm has a truly global presence. Its board just set a new 3-5-year strategy. How does this translate to our Amsterdam offices? What are our own shared ambitions and goals? What role can sustainability play? In other words: help us to set our destination.
Start with a shot of inspiration
From our head & heart approach, we used a mix of workshops and interventions. First, we organized an Ambition Workshop for the Leadership Team. Visualizing the desired future of the office with so-called celebration speeches. From this we defined an overall Ambition and 6 Ambition Themes, which included sustainability.
Make it tangible
Next, we facilitated a bigger group of partners in a series of meaningful conversations about this ambition. Can we define objectives and initiatives to realize the ambition? This was input for the Strategy Execution Map. It’s a comprehensive overview of the value for all stakeholders, financial & non-financial KPIs, plus value-adding & supporting activities.
After this, the group distributed responsibilities. Together we created 21 project briefs. We finished with a closing day to choose the 5 top priorities and related projects.

The ambition and strategy execution plan are supported and owned by all partners of the office. Moreover, sustainability is now an integral part of the company’s objectives, services, and initiatives to implement over the coming years. The Amsterdam Leadership Team now has the tools, plans, mandate, and drive to realize its ambition.
It was great to open this team's eyes to the strategic importance of sustainability.
