Liquin became an independent organisation following its carve out from Vopak. With three chemical terminals in Botlek, Chemiehaven and TTR, it is the largest liquid bulk storage hub in the ARA region (Amsterdam–Rotterdam–Antwerp). The executive team asked Been Management Consulting to structure the carve out program, secure progress and accelerate improvements for the new organization.
From carve out to transition
To realize the carve out, Liquin launched a program with multiple workstreams, each owned by a member of the executive team. The carve out program is part of a broader strategy structured around Business and Transition pillars; the carve out sits under Transition.
Firm cadence, rigorous reporting
We set up a predictable progress rhythm: weekly 1:1 progress check ins, weekly reporting to the executive team, a bi-weekly steering committee, and monthly board updates. We prepared and facilitated each session and secured actions and decisions, including identifying quick wins to realize near term value.
LET'S CHANGE THE SYSTEM!
A tailored Program Status Dashboard
There is no one size fits all dashboard. We delivered a tailored Program Status Dashboard that provided insight into progress, dependencies and risks, helping decision makers to intervene top down and bottom up. The dashboard made underlying project progress transparent and kept the program on track.
Better steering, faster decisions
With the dashboard and governance cadence, the executive team gained clear visibility on workstream progress and could monitor IT/TSA dependencies and Day 1–100 milestones in time. The result: actions & decisions to course correct, and concrete improvements that accelerated the new organization.
“In carve outs, speed and focus are everything: a tight progress cadence, transparency on dependencies and that weekly nudge to keep moving. It’s how you build while you run.”
