At the beginning of 2025, the CSRD Omnibus proposal was introduced to simplify CSRD by reducing the scope and reporting requirements. We see that companies are willing to continue CSRD activities as the CSRD framework and the outcomes of the CSRD process create a solid foundation for a supported sustainability strategy.
Over the past months, we guided an international fishing company in their CSRD process. We created a common understanding of sustainability, implemented multiple analyses together with key stakeholders and set the first steps towards a futureproof sustainability strategy.
Using the framework and outcomes of CSRD for a solid foundation for a supported Sustainability Strategy
An international producer of fish products embarked on a comprehensive review of its value chain and business model to enhance the company in the area of
sustainability. Going through the different steps from CSRD, the company is taking a deep-dive into every aspect of sustainability.
In collaboration with the client, we executed a detailed stakeholder analysis, conducted to map and engage internal and external parties critical to the company’s success and social & environmental impact. This informed the development of a targeted stakeholder engagement plan to foster dialogues and insight collection. We identified and evaluated the social and environmental impacts alongside financial risks and opportunities and concluded the materiality assessment with setting a threshold. Afterwards, we also executed a A FIT/GAP analysis on the identified material topics to pinpoint strengths and areas of data en documentation needing further attention.
Outcomes of these analyses were used as the basis for the formulation of sustainability goals that align with the stakeholder perspectives, material topics
and also fit the DNA of the company.
To ensure the knowledge and skills are embedded within a company, at Been we use the “fietsenmodel”. In this approach we first show how to do it, then
execute tasks in collaboration, and at last coach the client to do it by themselves. This approach benefits the learning curve of the clients’ employees and
reinforces commitment from all internal stakeholders to the sustainability journey of the company.
Successful start of a sustainability journey we're proud of
One of the key points of success of the trajectory, was the dialogue with colleagues and external stakeholders on sustainability. Because of the
conversations and deep dives, different perspectives and interests now are part of the foundation for the sustainability strategy. Ultimately, the process strengthened the company’s sustainability commitment and the willingness of colleagues to contribute to improve sustainable practices.
Let's change the system
“Stakeholder dialogues on what matters – key for a sustainabilty strategy that reflects DNA and encourages improvement!”
