• Clear success vision and natural clusters as the foundation for design choices.
• Two alternative organizational scenarios developed with pros & cons; a preferred scenario selected.
• Concrete advice for the Board, ready for swift decision‑making.
• Team spirit, fun and pride thanks to intensive co‑creation; stronger ownership among employees
Essent, a leading energy supplier, aimed to design its new support organization to better serve customers in the energy transition. Following the Works Council’s advice, the Board added an extra design step: have a representative group of employees develop scenarios. Been Management Consulting was asked to step in at very short notice. We created a three week pressure cooker program to define the vision, identify natural clusters, and build design alternatives with employees, and we co-created a Board advice with the internal project lead.
A new support organization in the energy transition
Essent wanted a future proof support organization that fits evolving customer needs. The Board sought an approach that delivers quality and broad buy in.
Pressure cooker with ‘head and heart’
We designed and facilitated a three-week pressure cooker with thirteen representative employees. In the first workshop, we defined the vision of success and identified natural clusters, then developed two design scenarios and assessed their trade offs. Daily alignments and homework ensured momentum. In the second workshop we agreed the preferred scenario and specified how it will work operationally. Finally, we drafted the Board advice, co created with the internal project lead.
"A 10 out of 10. A short but powerful collaboration! Been delivered a thorough program and pleasant facilitation, all within extremely tight deadlines.”

Future proof design with broad support
The program delivered a solid organizational design for the support organization, with clarity on structure and ways of working. Everything was ready for Board decision making, grounded in a shared vision of the future organization. The pressure cooker setup built energy, team spirit and pride among employees: the change became theirs.
Faster decisions, stronger execution
Co-creation and a compact, focused program created speed, quality and broad buy in, positioning the organization to implement the design effectively and serve Essent’s customers better throughout the energy transition.
“Combining ‘head and heart’ made the difference: sharp content decisions and genuine ownership among colleagues. In just three weeks we moved from ideas to a shared design and a concrete Board advice. That builds momentum and confidence.”
