Robin Zeelenberg recently joined Been Management Consulting as a consultant. With a background in management and a strong interest in complex sustainability challenges, she aims to contribute to real change within organizations. What drives her, what were her first impressions, and what is she looking forward to? Let’s get to know Robin.
What is your background?
I began my studies in Groningen, where I completed a bachelor’s in International Business and wrote my thesis on B Corps. Alongside my studies, I worked at a solar panel company that itself held a B Corp certification. I quickly realized that it is important to me that companies look beyond financial results and are also conscious of their impact on the environment and society. With that in mind, I chose to pursue a master’s in Global Business & Sustainability at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. The program focused heavily on systems thinking and analyzing complex sustainability challenges, often connected to practical case studies. I completed my master’s with a thesis on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and its influence on companies’ sustainability performance, an incredibly interesting topic that links policy, strategy, and societal impact.
What made you decide to apply at Been Management Consulting?
Consulting appeals to me because of its versatility: I can both learn from and contribute to a variety of projects, and it’s precisely that diversity that energizes me. I was immediately drawn to Been’s focus on the energy and food transition, complex and urgent topics in which I am eager to invest my knowledge and energy. What ultimately convinced me is that Been not only fosters personal development but also genuinely contributes to impactful projects. Additionally, the combination of “Head and Heart” that Been stands for felt like a perfect match with my own values and ambitions.
"I find great satisfaction in collaborating on impact projects where we can truly make a difference together."

What is your first impression of the team?
I immediately felt very welcome. The team has an open and inviting atmosphere and there is plenty of room to grow both personally and professionally. What really stood out to me is how much emphasis is placed on learning from and with each other. Colleagues are not only happy to share their knowledge but also actively encourage you to develop your own talents. It’s a work environment that’s both inspiring and full of opportunities to learn.
What do you look forward to learning in the next couple of months?
I’m looking forward to putting my knowledge and skills into practice and further developing myself by contributing to a variety of projects. I’m especially excited about getting to know different industries and applying diverse methods. I also value the opportunity to observe how colleagues approach and tackle complex challenges. Step by step, I want to strengthen my own role and deepen my knowledge of the energy and food transition.
Can you tell us a little bit about your personal life?
I grew up in Dronten, a village in Flevoland, spending much of my childhood on a farm surrounded by animals. For my studies, I lived in Groningen for five years, and I’ve now settled in Amsterdam. I really enjoy the vibrant city life and love discovering new places, from cozy cafés to great restaurants (recommendations are always welcome!). At the same time, I enjoy using my vacations to escape into the calm of nature; I love this contrast between city life and the peace of the outdoors.
Which hobbies or interests outside work energize you?
In my free time, I like to stay active: I regularly go for runs or take spinning classes. I also really enjoy a good book, delicious food, and quality time with friends and family. For me, this mix of exercise, unwinding, and social moments is the perfect way to recharge.
